Rumors have been spreading through the Space Quest Community that Vivendi may plan to re-release a compiliation of the Space Quest games. These rumors are based upon an Amazon.com link, which has been verified by Amazon.com based on information from their suppliers.
--Omeed 03:14, 11 September 2005 (EDT)
UPDATE: Months have passed with the compilations still un-released. Many question Vivendi's motives in spreading these rumors. Some attribute it to having a reason to stop fanmade games from being completed. The community, now more suspicious, still awaits the eventual release of the compilation.

UPDATE: Several people in the SQ community have received e-mails from Vivendi saying the release of the compilations is officially called off.

I would like to call out to the person / people who think it is necessary to vandalize this website because of their dissatisfaction over the closure of SQN. This is totally uncalled for. I would like to recall people that the Omnipedia is an initiative that took of with the help of SQN's content, which forms its backbone. Vandalizing this webpage is totally against the principles of the community, and against mine, for that matter. You're NOT helping. Destroying stuff is all too easy. Remember that this is how it all started in the first place. Think before you act.
To answer the confusion: I have edited a few things a few days ago: removing some personal related material that I do not want online any longer.
Lastly, SpaceQuest.Net will be back online soon. Please watch the website in the coming days.

There are rumors that SQ7 plans to release this year. The SQ7 teamlead, Colin, replied to these rumors saying that "the project is going very well", but did not directly confirm these rumors. Meanwhile, at the SQ7 forums, there is no activity either in the SQ7 section or on SLAGE, nor on the SLAGE wiki. At the same time, the VSB forums are quite active, yet the team has released little in the past few months, even pulling back their site after KQIX was closed down. Other fangames seem to be doing about as well; Vohaul's Mines recently released some media in time for Christmas.

The Space Quest III remake, apparently sensing the cancellation of the fanmade King's Quest 9 by Vivendi as an opportunity, claimed to have received a "cease and desist" letter of their own. Speculation regarding the motives behind this decision have progressed beyond the thought that it was a hoax to reveal that it was most likely just a lame excuse to get out of making the game. It is not known where the lie originated within the team; however, it has been confirmed that no such letter was sent to the SQ3VGA group. Denial of the facts by certain team members make finding out the truth exceedingly difficult, and at this time no other facts are available.
UPDATE: Khaveen, the SQ3VGA teamlead, has responded to these accusations, saying that he was not responsible for these actions (though he did want to stop work on the game), and that Robin ("Alias") was the sole perpetrator.

A scandal has rocked the Space Quest community. High-ranking members of the Vohaul Strikes Back fangame have been accused of abusing the trust and authority given to them. Reports allege that the members, who include Pcj, Justas, Tiki, and Olzen have broken into to the SpaceQuest.net configuration utility, changed existing users' posts, and harassed members. Additionally, they created a webpage with private messages from the popular forum Janitorial Times. While this webpage was intended to be privately shared among themselves, its location was later leaked. It is currently uncertain the extent to which these activities took place, and how widespread the damage is, but members of the team have admitted their involvement. No matter how this resolves, it's a black eye for the entire Space Quest community.

While the webmaster is located in the Netherlands, the server hosting the site is located in California, in the United States. The ESA has demanded the entire takedown of Spacequest.net, including all screenshots and textual materials, and SQN has been forced to comply. It's importaint to the SQ community to watch this as it develops.
