Galaxy Galleria

From Space Quest Omnipedia

The Galaxy Galleria

Station-based mall, frequented by women, men, and neuter alike. Transport around the mall is achieved via a pair of conveyor belts, designed to rest your weary legs and prevent you from going backwards. Various shops are located all around the perimeter of the mall, with the center being filled by a huge Skate-O-Rama rink. For those running low on Buckazoids, an Autobucks Teller Machine is provided.

Roger Wilco visited here with the Latex Babes during his visit to the Space Quest X time period.

Stores in the Galleria

Buckazoid Bill's Arcade and Sushi Bar

Buckazoid Bill's Arcade and Sushi Bar

Buckazoid Bill's Arcade and Sushi Bar' (also known as ScumWorld Arcade) is a subsidiary of Vohaul Enterprises.[1] it is a typical gaming establishment, and is the kind of place where unwashed teen-agers stand around smoking, sweating and performing other unmentionable teen-ager acts. Games including classic games like Ms. Astro Chicken, Cap'n Zappo, Slime Flyer, Monaco Princess Stunt Drivin', Choke and Croak, Ghetto Blaster, and Dweeb Hunter. Unusually for an arcade, Buckazoid Bill's also has a sushi bar machine, although from the looks of the dead fish inside the machine, it looks like it wasn't one of Bill's better ideas. Decoration is in the form of two video art forms (one showing a hand throwing a pizza, and the other showing a computer-generated fractal simulation of a washing machine) and a change machine, which Roger Wilco commented that "the change machine looks more like a time machine than a time machine looks like a time machine".

During Roger's visit to the Galaxy Galleria, he visited the arcade in order to play Ms. Astro Chicken. However, while he was looking around, the Sequel Police parked their Timepod in the Arcade.

Big and Tall

Big and Tall

A clothing store intended for the male being, found at the Galaxy Galleria. It mostly contains clothing for the larger sort of being; however, it does also provide a convenient Adventurer selection. Customers in the store are waited on by the classy Big and Tall Clerk, who uses a Beancounter 2000 Revenue Collection Device to receive payment.

When Roger Wilco visited Big and Tall, it was because he had lost his pants during an incident with the Latex Babes. Luckily for him, the Clerk was able to provide him with generic space hero attire for only 20 Buckazoids.

Radio Shock

Hz. So Good

Hz. So Good

HZ. So Good is a chain of stores offering technological items, the sale of which is handled completely through coin-operated machines, thereby nearly doubling income for the company. Roger Wilco purchased a PocketPal connector from the Galaxy Galleria branch, although some say he bought it at RadioActive Schlock or Radio Shock.

In addition to the easy-to-read screens, the catalogs are also read aloud to further expediate the shopping experience.

References

Radio Shock is a play on Radio Shack, whereas Hz So Good is a play on Hurts So Good. The name was changed due to a lawsuit from Radio Shack.

RadioActive Schlock

Monolith Burger

Monolith Burger

The local branch of Monolith Burger is here, managed by a gruff pachyderm and/or pig-like individual. Male adventurers, such as Roger Wilco, feeling strapped for buckazoids can find temporary employment here, how temporary depending on the skill of the adventurer.

Sack's

Sacks

Occasionally referred to as Socks1, Sacks is a high-class, high-fashion, high-priced women's dress store, found at the Galaxy Galleria and staffed by Maebot, a stylishly feminine SalesBot. It is even fancier than Frederick's of Uranus, stocking such things as genuine Zynthion leather. Instead of conventional displays, Sacks has robot manequins, with real Synthoskin, to model its clothes.

When Roger visited Sacks when he had need to look like a blonde female in order to fool the Autobucks Teller Machine. Although he tried to convince Maebot that he was purchasing for a "Special Friend", she saw straight through it. Luckily for Roger, Maebot is programmed to be discreet in such circumstances.

Software Excess

Software Excess

Software Excess, with its slogan "if it's soft, we're aware", is the only software store in the Galaxy Galleria. This creatively-named establishment has done well enough to sponsor celebrity visits, such as the Two Guys From Andromeda. Prices there are a bit high, however, and better prices may be found in their bargain bin, where they sell such classics as Checkerboard Construction Kit, It Came For Dessert, Kings Quest XXXXVIII - Quest for Disk Space, Boom, Where In The World Is Hymie Lipschitz? (And Who Really Cares), Sim Sim, Cluck Egger's Advanced Chicken Simulator and The Space Quest IV Hintbook. A cheerful Sales Clerk is always happy to assist potential shoppers, however an advanced security system is installed, vapourizing shoplifters!

Roger Wilco visited Software Excess in order to purchase the SQ4 hintbook.

Skate-O-Rama

The Skate-O-Rama

A fun micro-gravity skating rink found at the Galaxy Galleria. The music played in is this establishment is infamous for being one of the catchiest tunes in the entire Space Quest universe. It has reportedly driven several dozen adventurers to insanity, however such a thing seldom has any effect on the average Space Quest universe denizen. It is recommended that you are vaccinated for Timeritus before entering the Skate-O-Rama.

Roger Wilco passed through the Skate-O-Rama rink during his escape from the Sequel Police.
