Name: Markell P. Moss (a.k.a. BlueMax)
Location: Winnipeg, Canada
Birthdate: 1974 (Egad! I'm 30!!)
I've been with the PC since the very beginning. Yes, the early 80's in the XT days, with my Tandy 1000SX. This also means I got to play those first Sierra games in all their glory - 16 colours, 3-voice sound. Boy were my friends with CGA and Hercules mono jealous!
I've always been very involved with music, from school bands, military band and wind ensemble. (Have Tuba, will travel!) This love of music combined well with computers, and my early composing efforts were aided by Tandy sound and Will Harvey's Music Construction Set. I was ecstatic when I was introduced to the the AdLib sound card, and became a very early adopter of this gem - more than two years before any game ever supported it. (Imagine my joy when I fired up the brand-new Leisure Suit Larry II with AdLib music!)
Since then, I've played with various synthesizers and music formats. I found out about MODs late in the game, but managed to win a few multitracker music competitions before the 'scene petered out. (Have GUS, will travel!) After two 1st place awards (and one sixth) I began to slow down on composition and "real life" began to take over. A wonderful wife, a college education in Cisco Networking (just in time for the IT crash of 2000! Whoo-ah!) and very recently, our first-born son! It's a busy life, but I wouldn't trade it for anything!
So, with my foot firmly wedged in life's door, it's time to get back to composing! And what better project than the series of adventures I loved so much in my youth? Space Quest! A space-age, swashbuckling hero for all time! ... well.... then there's good ol' Roger Wilco.
