Blinds lamp

The blinds in Roger's room

Venusian miniblinds cover the window in Roger's quarters on the DeepShip 86. Somebody told Roger that they would look good in there.

According to the narrator, there is "no reason to open the blinds. There's nothing to see out there except billions of the same old strange new worlds, ho-hum new life and new civilizations, and lots of stupid places for insane, death-wishing daredevils to boldly go where no insane, death-wishing daredevils have gone before."

The name is derived from Venetian blinds and the name of the planet Venus.

The narrator's description spoofs the opening speech seen in TOS and TNG (and referenced in ENT) Star Trek series.
